Medicare Options Explained

Medicare has multiple parts and plan types, and the right choice depends on your doctors, medications, budget, and how you use healthcare. We sit down with you, review your situation, and help you choose with confidence — not from a call center, but from a local agent in Houston.

Plan Types

Medicare Advantage

All-in-one plans from private insurers. Often $0 premium with extras like dental, vision, and hearing. Network-based — you use in-network doctors.

Medicare Supplement

Fills the gaps in Original Medicare — copays, coinsurance, and deductibles. See any doctor who accepts Medicare. Higher monthly premium, but more predictable costs.

Part D (Drug Coverage)

Covers prescription medications. Available as a standalone plan with Original Medicare or often included in Medicare Advantage plans.

Common Questions

Medicare FAQ

Common questions about Medicare in Houston

What is Medicare?

Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people 65 and older, as well as some younger people with disabilities. It has four parts: Part A (hospital), Part B (medical), Part C (Medicare Advantage), and Part D (prescription drugs).

When should I enroll in Medicare?

Your Initial Enrollment Period starts 3 months before your 65th birthday month and ends 3 months after — a 7-month window. Missing it can mean penalties and gaps in coverage. Start planning 3 months before you turn 65.

What is Medicare Advantage vs a Supplement?

Medicare Advantage (Part C) replaces Original Medicare with an all-in-one plan from a private insurer. A Supplement (Medigap) fills the gaps in Original Medicare. Each has different costs, networks, and benefits. We help you compare.

How much does Medicare cost?

Part A is usually premium-free. Part B costs around $185/month (2025). Advantage and Supplement plans have their own premiums. We help you understand the full cost picture based on your situation.
